Ratings & Tasting Notes

Vinous – (89/100)

“The 2008 Lynch Moussas, 23% Merlot and 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, has an attractive, classically styled bouquet with satisfactory, conservative tobacco infused black fruit and cedar scents. There is commendable freshness and focus here. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin, good body, a tad stocky and broad-shouldered towards the finish that shows just a touch of dryness. However, this 2008 has matured perhaps better than I expected and it should continue to give another decade’s worth of drinking pleasure.”

Jeff Leve – The Wine Cellar Insider (87/100)

“Bright, red, crisp, crunchy red berries make up the core of this wine. Fresh, medium-bodied and old school, this classic luncheon claret leaves you with a bite of cranberry, cassis, green olive, herb, pepper and tobacco in the finish.”

The elegance and power of a great Pauillac wine

The estate

Located in the renowned Bordeaux region, Château Lynch-Moussas was established in the early 19th century following the division of the historic Lynch family estate. This prestigious 62-hectare vineyard, classified as a Fifth Growth in 1855, has belonged to the Castéja family since 1919. Today, Philippe Castéja heads the estate and passionately continues the family legacy. Through significant investment and constant modernization, he has successfully restored this iconic label to its former glory, recognized for the excellence of its wines.

The vineyard

The estate extends across the famous western plateaus of the Pauillac appellation. The vines, averaging around 40 years of age, thrive on Günzian gravel rises, resting on a subsoil composed of marl and limestone. This exceptional terroir encourages deep root development. Vineyard management is carried out with the utmost respect for the environment, including mechanical soil work and High Environmental Value certification (HVE 3). Harvesting is done by hand.
