Critic Ratings & Tasting Notes
James Suckling 93-94/100
“A powerful, muscular St.-Estephe for the year with lots of fresh blackberries and black cherries. Full-bodied and tight-grained, with abundant tannins and a compact, medium-long finish. Slightly chewy at the end. 62% cabernet sauvignon, 26% merlot, 10% petit verdot and 2% cabernet franc.”
Falstaff 95-97/100
“Deep dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Subtle tobacco and herbal spice, wild black berries, a hint of cherries and cassis. Lean, red berry notes, lively acidity, mineral, lemony finish, will benefit from ageing.”
Jeff Leve 91-93/100
“Flowers, red currants, and a touch of spice pop in the nose. On the palate, the wine is forward, soft, and energetic. There is freshness in the fruits, which are juicy, crisp, and vibrant in the mid-palate, and in the finish. The is the second vintage from the team of Cos d’Estournel, and the first with Axel Marchal as their consultant. The wine blends 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc. 12.6% ABV. Drink from 2027-2040.”
Decanter 91/100
“Cabernet aromas, blackcurrant leaf, cedar and dark chocolate. Bright acidity gives lift straight away with quite massy tannins that fill the mouth. They’re not too dry, but plentiful, with both plushness and coolness. A touch of cedar and green notes on the finish, which is a bit distracting, but overall not bad at all. A little light on the finish, losing some momentum. Chalky, mineral ending too. 2% Cabernet Franc completes the blend. Ageing in barrels with 20% new oak. pH 3.63.”
